Sharon Long

Watercolor Artist, Instructor and Publisher

Sharon Long has been a professional artist and workshop instructor since 1982. Her vibrant and colorful paintings of landscapes, floral’s, animals and street scenes are included in public and private collections across the USA. Although her home is in Destin, Florida, she has led her own workshops all across the United States. The international instructor is the co-author of Watercolor for Real, Painting Watercolor Made Easy, and Watercolor You Can Do.

Long provides over 20 years of extensive knowledge in creative painting and simplified color mixing techniques, sharing her knowledge in DVDs, publications and workshops. Her innovative style and easy to follow instructions help both the novice and the experienced painter become confident with watercolor. Her specially designed magic palette system clears up confusion for artists seeking rich, vivid colors and strong values. Her objective is to pull together what she has seen and experienced into a statement of how she feels about nature, and she feels an obligation to share her knowledge with others.

Long’s inspiration comes from all the life that surrounds us all, whether in the mountains, on a sidewalk by a busy street, or white sandy beaches and emerald green water, and she wants to share it in the painting process. “It’s like magic to create an elusive moment, an emotional response or memory, on paper. It let’s me share with those who have seen the subject or provide a moving experience of reality to those who may have never witnessed it at all. I hope it will inspire the viewers to go to nature, observe and seek greater knowledge and appreciation of all the beauties surrounding us.”
